Happy Holidays Plus Last-Minute Gift Ideas – Real-Estate Related

Merry Christmas!   Wishing you a wonderful holiday season!

Since I’m writing, I gotta mention something I got an email about the other day – a great last-minute holiday gift for a friend or family member who is interested in investing in real estate, would be a gift of education.  Of the numerous real estate seminars that I have attended, I highly recommend John Schaub’s two-day seminar, Building Wealth One House at a Time, being offered in Sarasota FL, January 15-16, 2011.  Here’s a link to the seminar schedule:  http://www.johnschaub.com/seminars.cfm

John also offers a book by the same name, which you may be able to find in a local book store or always on Amazon:

Building Wealth One House at a Time: Making it Big on Little Deals

And as they say, if you think education is expensive, try ignorance!  I just watched Pacific Heights, what a real estate investor’s nightmare!  Don’t let this happen to someone you know!

Thank You Veterans, and Help Those Who Served This Veterans Day

?If you are a veteran or a current member of our armed forces, or if you have a loved one currently serving in harm’s way… thank you for your service and your sacrifices!

On this Veterans Day, please join me in helping our nation’s defenders so that our heroes do not suffer hardships after honorably serving our country.  On this day of remembrance, you can honor and thank our heroes by giving back to those who have given so much to America.

The PenFed Foundation helps provide daycare for children of wounded warriors at military hospitals; helps the military wounded and their families overcome financial emergencies; places veterans and their families into their first homes with grants for first-time home buyers; and provides no-interest cash advances to keep military families away from predatory lenders.

For every client who is referred to me this month, who buys or sells real estate this year, I will donate a portion of my commission to The PenFed Foundation.  Please call me with a referral!

And, if you are a local Veteran, would you like to join me tonight for free dinner at Applebees?  They are having a special event, and it sounds like fun!  If you are interested, please give me a call at 443-569-3977 and let’s get together.

Mayor Invites Residents, Visitors to City’s Independence Day
Festivities
Parade starts at 6:30 p.m. Sunday; concert and fireworks to follow

Annapolis, Md. (07-02-10) – Mayor Joshua J. Cohen invites residents and
visitors to attend the City’s Independence Day festivities on Sunday,
July 4, which will include a parade, a concert by the U.S. Naval Academy
Band and a $20,000 fireworks display.

An estimated crowd of 50,000 or more is expected to descend on the
city, and, to that end, Mayor Cohen advises visitors to come early, park
at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and take the free City shuttle
into downtown for the festivities. The stadium lot opens at 3 p.m., and
there is a $5 charge for parking.

Road closures will go into effect at 4:30 p.m. and last until 10:30
p.m., primarily for downtown and Eastport. Vehicular traffic will be
denied access to downtown from 5 to 10:30 p.m. At 9 p.m., the Spa Creek
Bridge that connects downtown and Eastport will be closed to car
traffic, creating a spectator pier with an unobstructed view of the
fireworks.

No-parking zones will be posted to accommodate emergency vehicle to
facilitate safe, timely egress for spectators from the Eastport
Peninsula after the event.  Violators will be towed.

A full list of road closures and no-parking zones are listed on the
City’s website, www.annapolis.gov, or go to http://bit.ly/aT8syL

The parade starts at 6:30 p.m. sharp with a parade that will proceed
into downtown, beginning on Amos Garrett Boulevard and then right on
West Street, around Church Circle, down Main Street, left on Randall
Street and disbanding near the Market House.

The U.S. Naval Academy Band will perform at 8 p.m. at Susan C. Campbell
Park at City Dock.

The fireworks are scheduled to go off at about 9:15 p.m. The display
will be launched from a barge in the Annapolis Harbor. Boat restrictions
are in place. Because of the anticipated crowded conditions, boaters are
urged to select their preferred viewing-area anchorage early and are
also warned to avoid the 1,000-foot SAFETY ZONE around the fireworks
barge. Contact the Harbormaster’s office (410-263-7973) for more
details.

“There’s nothing like celebrating Independence Day in the state
capital, which for a brief time in Colonial days was our nation’s
capital,” Mayor Cohen said. “We can all do our part to make it an
enjoyable experience by following the traffic restrictions, parking at
the stadium and using the shuttles.”

Enjoy the celebrations of our nation’s independence!

Here are some client reviews of Carlyn Lowery…

“Carlyn got us a quick sale above the asking price. She qualified prospects well, used a professional photographer for advertising photos, and provided expert advice during negotiations. Carlyn is what other Realtors aspire to be!”
– Paul Donnelly

“As first time home buyers, Carlyn Lowery was very attentive to our basic needs of walking us through each step of the home buying process from a novice standpoint. The long detailed list of items due at specific times from the start of the contract all the way through to the week of closing was greatly appreciated. It was great having an agent who took the time to clearly lay this all out for us. End result – a very smooth time at settlement. No surprises!”
– Ann Hannam

“We wanted a professional who would work with us to sell our home
quickly for a good price and protect our interests as sellers through the process.
Carlyn’s business acumen is her (and will be your) greatest asset.”
– Sue Bogard

“Carlyn was wonderful. She was organized, prepared, and knew the steps to take to sell our home quickly and used a wide array of marketing to get the job done. She gave great advice
during each of the phases, and in particular on the negotiation.”
– Michael Morgan
